Terms of Service

Last updated September 10th, 2026

The rules for using Reduit. Short, because the app asks little of you and promises little in return.

What Reduit is

Reduit is an app for keeping track of what is in your kitchen and sharing that with the people you live with. It is provided as it is, for personal use.

Your content is yours

Everything you put in — items, notes, photos, recipes — belongs to you. We claim no rights over it, and we cannot read it: it stays on your device and travels encrypted.

You are responsible for what you enter, including anything you contribute to the public product catalogue by naming an unknown barcode.

Using it fairly

Do not use the app to break the law, and do not submit product names that are offensive, misleading, or contain someone's personal information. Contributions that do may be corrected or removed.

Do not attempt to overload, probe, or work around the limits of the recipe service. Those limits exist so that a single user cannot make the feature unusable or expensive for everyone else.

The subscription

Keeping track of what you have, sharing it with your household, and your cookbook of recipes are all free. The Chef — recipe ideas matched to your kitchen, and new ones written for it — is a subscription: Gold, Platinum or Diamond. The Chef runs on our own server in Switzerland.

The subscription is billed by the app store, renews automatically until you cancel it there, and the store's own refund rules apply — we cannot issue refunds ourselves. A subscription is tied to your store account and can be restored on another device.

Recipes are suggestions, not advice

Recipes from the AI Chef are generated by a language model. They can be wrong. They may omit an allergen, misjudge a quantity, or suggest something unsafe to eat.

Check ingredients against your own allergies and dietary needs, and use normal judgement about food safety and storage. Nothing in the app is medical or nutritional advice.

Availability

The app works offline and will keep working if our servers do not. Syncing between devices, barcode lookup and the AI Chef need the server, and those may be interrupted, changed, or discontinued.

We do not promise the service will always be available, and we may change how it works.

No warranty, limited liability

The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for lost data, a spoiled meal, an item bought twice, or any other loss arising from using it — except where the law does not permit us to exclude that liability.

Keep your own backup of anything you cannot afford to lose. Settings › Export gives you your data as a file.

Ending it

You can stop using Reduit at any time by deleting the app. We may stop providing the service, in which case the app keeps working offline with the data already on your device.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Switzerland, without regard to conflict of law rules. Mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence still apply.
